Pakistan Women Lawyers Council

Pakistan Women Lawyers Council (PWLC) is the largest body of women legal professionals that aims to provide leadership, a collective voice, and essential resources to advance women in the legal profession and advocate for the equality and access to justice of women under the law.

Objectives

Equality

PWLC is a community of women lawyers promoting equality, mutual support, and collective success. PWLC aims to achieve equality of access, retention and promotion of women lawyers within the legal sector. PWLC organize forum to listen to and engage in discussions on key issues affecting women lawyers in the profession today and to support and help promote PWLC members.

Empowerment

PWLC's core mission is to empower women in the legal profession and make them active decision makers and hence the agent of change in their local communities to facilitate more women to have access to justice. NWLC is committed to improving the status and working conditions of women lawyers. PWLC also help women lawyer returners to move forward confidently.

Networking

PWLC promotes and supports women's interests in the legal profession and provides a platform for women lawyers to build networks with other women lawyers across Pakistan to develop their practice and understand how to overcome field challenges. PWLC provides female legal practitioners in the field a forum to convene, share and learn from each other.

Leadership

PWLC aims to provide leadership, a collective voice, and essential resources to advance women in the legal profession and advocate for the equality of women under the law. PWLC offers many opportunities for career development, education, mentoring and networking through programs on leadership, current legal topics, community engagement and various social events.

PWLC Membership
Pakistan Women Lawyers Council (PWLC) is advocating for equality, empowerment, diversity and inclusion in legal profession by providing leadership trainings and empowering women lawyers to know their rights and to actively participate in decision making.

Key Initiatives
Women, Peace & Security
PWLC provides training on Women, Peace and Security which is crucial for Women Lawyers as an Agent of Peace and equip them so that they can play frontline role in prevention, protection and rehabilitation of women and girls in disasters, conflicts and pandemics. Women, Peace and Security (WPS) is a policy framework that recognizes that women must be critical actors in all efforts to achieve sustainable international peace and security. WPS promotes a gendered perspective and women's equal and meaningful participation in peace processes, peacebuilding and security.
SDG 5 - Gender Equality
PWLC aim to work on Goal 5 Gender Equality of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 specifically the indicators 5.1 and 5.5 which talks about end all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere and ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.
